The Indian rupee uses the code INR and the symbol ₹. Keep INR explicit when comparing it with the other rupee currencies used in South Asia. The shared word “rupee” does not mean that an Indian, Nepalese, Pakistani or Sri Lankan balance represents the same monetary unit. [1]

A currency option in an app is a display or account feature, not evidence of authorisation to provide every service in India. For an ordinary foreign-currency purchase, compare the final rupee debit, any conversion charge and the refund terms. Retaining the original invoice currency makes the comparison easier if the amount later has to be reversed.
