The Sri Lankan rupee uses the international code LKR. The shorter Rs label is familiar but ambiguous beside India, Nepal or Pakistan, which have different rupee currencies. In a comparison table, retain LKR for balances, transaction limits and fees so that the country’s monetary unit remains unambiguous. [1]

When an ordinary payment is converted into another currency, keep the original LKR amount and the final amount charged. An exchange-rate display, a processing fee and the cost of a later refund can describe different parts of the transaction. Comparing the completed debit with the invoice is more useful than relying on a single advertised rate.
